October 7 and the Yom Kippur War: My Personal Wound

For as long as I can remember, the large photograph of a handsome young man, with a camera resting on his shoulder, hung on the wall in my grandmother’s bedroom, seeming to look right at me. The photograph remained there until the last day of her life.

The Power of Anti-Zionism in the United States: A Gradual Hegemony Building

Building on Antonio Gramsci’s framework, this paper analyzes the hegemonic
consolidation that has led to the emergence of a strong anti-Zionist historic bloc.
It reinterprets the notion of a historic bloc not through the traditional Marxist
perspective of class hegemony, but rather through the prevalence of a resolute
Palestinian narrative.

When Academic Freedom Becomes Weaponised: The Normalisation of Antisemitic Expression in British Academia

Amira Halperin and Stephen Sussman argue that institutional neutrality within universities can function as a mechanism of avoidance, and how legal protections for speech are being invoked to justify inaction.

In the wake of the 7 October 2023 Hamas attacks against Israel, university campuses across Britain have become sites of intense conflict over Israel, Gaza, Zionism, and antisemitism. Campus protests and confrontations have raised difficult questions about the boundaries between protected political expression and conduct that intimidates, excludes, or discriminates against Jewish and Israeli students and faculty.

The Strait of Hormuz Crisis and the Limits of Iranian Coercion

With the 60-day U.S.-Iran negotiating period now expired and the two sides still far apart, the Strait of Hormuz remains at the center of the confrontation. Traffic through one of the world’s most important energy corridors remains a fraction of prewar levels, while Washington and Tehran continue to disagree fundamentally over the terms under which normal navigation would resume. The immediate dispute raises a larger strategic question: can Tehran use control over a critical international waterway to compel a change in American strategy?

Why Do Evangelicals Support Israel?

The fact that American evangelicals support Israel is undeniable, however, scholars disagree about their motivations. Our research seeks to fill this gap by carefully exploring theological, cultural, political, security, and demographic sources of evangelical support for Jews and Israel. To that end, we composed a nation-wide survey on 1,000 evangelical and born-again respondents, conducted in April 2018 and administered for us by Lifeway Research, a national polling company that specializes in surveying attitudes of various Christian communities. The full findings were published recently in a scholarly article (here).

Biden administration needs creativity to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

The Biden Administration will attempt to give new life to the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

The Administration has expressed its desire to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has reaffirmed the notion that a two-state solution continues to be the best option to fulfill both the aspirations of Zionism (a Jewish and democratic state) and Palestinians (self-determination in their own state).

The Past: The Things We Thought We Buried Rule Us From the Grave

The sins of Donald Trump are, and have been without his many daily additions, too long to list. One of these often left in mentioned is that, by his very presence and the words he then utters or tweets, he causes other Republicans, even Republicans otherwise intelligent, reasonable, and careful, to say things that are ridiculous.

The recent events in the Capitol Building are so surprising, so unexpected, so unprecedented and, at this point, so foggy, that one hesitates to offer any early comments.

ISRAEL IN THE MIDDLE EAST FROM PERIPHERY TO CENTER-PT.3: ISRAEL AND TURKEY-FROM KEMALISM TO ISLAMISM

Turkey was another Middle Eastern country, alongside Iran, which from day one of Israel’s existence was regarded as a likely and desirable friend, possibly an ally, of the Jewish state. The story of the relationships between Israel and Turkey can be considered a typical Middle Eastern story in as much as it is based on a long historic legacy whose implications are felt to this very day.
